A Web-Enhaced Self-Paced Course on HTML and JavaScript
Abstract
Self-paced modules developed by the teacher were used to teach HTML and JavaScript. The modules were written in HTML, JavaScript, and Java. The reference materials and tools utilized in the course were found on the Internet. The teacher designed Web pages that tied each of the resources together, introducing each subject, providing links to the appropriate sections of the online references, providing interactive online exercises, and detailing required assignments. All materials, including tests, subject matter, and assignments, were administered via the computer. As a test case, the course was taken by gifted junior high students at the University of South Florida during a summer program with limited contact hours.
